I came across this article yesterday and it resonated with me so I thought I’d share here. Curb appeal is the factor which in retail gets people off the pavement and into your shop and although it’s normally associated with high-street retail it’s also an incredibly important factor in digital media.

It’s whatever makes you want to leave your comfortable place on the curb and go inside and explore.

Is it relevant for businesses without brick and mortar storefronts? Yes. It’s about making your business appealing to potential clients and customers.

Chris Smith joins NEC

We’re really pleased to announce that Chris Smith is joining the team as a digital designer. Chris may be young but has skills way beyond his years and is already making a big impact on the service we provide clients. Chris’s role will be to work with clients on the initial artwork for their sites. Adding Chris to the team will allow us to ensure a consistently high quality of artwork and at the same time increase our turn around time on projects.

Buying accountancy online – True or False? It’s true. Following the great reception Freelance World have had to the new site we developed for them they asked us to expand on the work and develop the site to allow people to select and make the first steps towards buying services online. As Freelance Worlds contractor and freelance market is both national and trans-national they felt it was important that people could find ways to become informed about products and prices in a dynamic way and be channeled towards making the right choices online. This new addition to the site makes it worth expanding marketing efforts way beyond their traditional geographic catchment area in a way which is unique in their sector.

The system we delivered makes selecting accountancy services as simple as setting up an email account or signing up for any other web based service. It looks great, it works perfectly and maintains the visual excitement expected by their clients.

We’ve moved

Team NEC have moved. Our old home was getting a little too small for us and we’ve moved to shiny new offices just down the road. We can now be found in the Cammach Business Centre on Greenbank Road. Our new space is clean, modern, bright and most importantly – big.

Everyone now has the space they need to work and we have an area where we can sit down together to chat to clients informally on sofas or in our new meeting room. We have tons of parking and most importantly space to grow.

We are looking for a talented and passionate web designer with an enthusiastic yet efficient approach to design and a willingness to learn and develop within a fast paced growing agency.

You will need;

an attention to detail, a strong eye for layout, typography and user interface.
a strong awareness and interest in new trends and digital innovations.
an understanding of different business models and client requirements.
to be self driven in creating engaging designs based on analysis of the brief.
to enjoy working under pressure and on multiple projects at once with the team for a wide range of clients.
strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite and a thorough understanding of the online environment, however web development skills are not essential. Flash or Swishmax would also be a bonus.

Preference will be given to designers with a proven track record and commercial experience but we welcome enquiries from less experienced but enthusiastic candidates.

AECC award NEC to develop their new website

We’re too proud for actual words to announce that we’ve been awarded the role to develop a brand new website for one of Aberdeens flagship brands. After a lengthy tender process we were approved as the supplier in partnership with current brand managers The Big Picture to develop a new web presence which will allow AECC to compete locally, nationally and internationally. Plans are well under way and we’ll make sure everyone knows when it’s launched.

This project is a great vote of confidence in us and we can’t wait to get it online.

Web strategy and sponsorship for CLAN

We’ve agreed to work with CLAN, Aberdeen’s dedicated charity supporting people living with cancer in order to help them roll out a new integrated online communications strategy as part of our corporate and social responsibility program. We’ve worked with CLAN for a number of years and charging for this work has never sat well with us.

This new formalised partnership allows us to deliver the product and strategic vision we feel will best serve CLAN but without the price tag. CLAN do great work and next year they’ll be in a position to let everyone know about it effectively online in both a new range of websites and in a strategic social media program

Claire Lynch and Ryan Roberts join the team.

We’ve filled the full time vacancy for a web designer. We’re delighted that Ryan Roberts, formerly of Fifth Ring and the Big Picture has joined the team here at NEC. Ryan took up the post of lead front end developer and is making a huge dent in client projects. Claire Lynch has also joined the team as a front end web developer. Both Claire and Ryan bring great skills and a lot of enthusiasm and we’re delighted to have them.

For the moment we don’t have any immediate vacancies but we’re still keen to hear from freelancers of all disciplines as well as from talented people looking for a long term position with a forward thinking team. If you bring enthusiasm and share our passion for service and style then get in touch. Who knows.
